March 11th. We're married!
We were married today at 3:30pm in Trinity UMC in Fort Walton Beach.
Afterwards we held our reception at the Ramada.
here for more details. |
|
March 12th. We hosted a
brunch for our guests who were still in town and then invited any
"stragglers" back to our house. It was a great ending to a
wonderful wedding weekend. Click
here for details. |
|
March 13th. We said goodbye
to the rest of our family and friends. Steve's family headed back
to Pennsylvania and Peggy's cousin Vicki and best friend Kris headed
back to Texas and Arizona. Now it was time to pack for Hawaii! |
|
March 14th to 25th. We spend
a week and a half in beautiful Hawaii for our honeymoon. While
there we visited Oahu (4 days), the Big Island (3 days) as well as Maui
(3 days). |
|
April 15th and 16th. Easter
weekend at the Bowlings' in Gulf Shores. |
|
April 24th and 25th. Steve
and Peggy's dad Bill went to Atlanta to see Great Big Sea (a Celtic rock
band from Newfoundland) in concert. |
|
April 28th to 30th. Peggy
went to Pennsylvania for a baby shower for Steve's sister Janet. |
|
May 12th to 14th. Mother's
Day weekend at the Bowlings' in Gulf Shores. |
|
June 8th to 12th. We took a
long weekend trip to Chicago to visit a bunch of Peggy's friends. |
|
June 20th to 22nd. Steve
went TDY to Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX for work meetings. |
|
June 24th to 29th. Peggy
went to Bell Helicopters in Fort Worth, TX for her first week of Six
Sigma training. While there, she stayed with her friend Bridget
who (along with her husband John) lives nearby in Keller, TX. |
|
July 1st to 4th. Peggy's
friend Liz and her daughter Kate came up from Tampa to visit us over the
Fourth of July holiday weekend. |
|
July 31st to August 2nd.
Steve went TDY to Point Mugu Naval Station, north of Los Angeles, for
work meetings. |
|
August 4th. Today we sort of
found out that Peggy is pregnant. She took a pregnancy test before
we left for Indy and the result were very positive! |
|
August 5th to 7th. Our
annual trip to Indianapolis for the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race.
This year we flew into Dayton and Steve's dad Jim (and his friend Ray)
picked us up on their way through. Race day itself was brutally
hot and Peggy was a real trooper since she didn't feel very well. |
|
August 8th to 12th. We spent
the better part of a week in Pennsylvania visiting Steve's family.
While there we went to Hershey Park with Steve's sister Janet and
brother-in-law David. We took an overnight trip to State College
to visit Steve's alma mater, Penn State. Joining us at Dear Old
State were Steve's former roommate Barry and his girlfriend Karen and
Steve's friend Ron and his wife Amy. Culminating our week in PA,
we attended the church dedication of our new niece, Sarah Grace Hoover,
where we were honored to be her godparents. |
|
August 14th and 15th. Steve
went TDY to Crystal City, Virginia (near DC) for work meetings. |
|
August 14th. Peggy went to
her doctor and confirmed that she is indeed pregnant! We're
keeping the news under wraps for a while until we are pretty sure that
everything is OK. Of course we told both sets of parents.
Steve's sister Janet and brother-in-law David also know because we had
to tell them prior to our Hershey Park trip -- no roller coasters for
Peggy :-( |
|
August 18th. Peggy's
birthday! |
|
August 27th to September 1st.
Peggy went to Bell Helicopters in Fort Worth, TX for her second week of
Six Sigma training. Like her previous trip, she stayed with her
friend Bridget. Peggy did an admirable job of keeping her
pregnancy from Bridget, but after a few days Bridget figured it out.
Now she and John are in-the-know too. |
|
September 1st to September 4th.
Steve came to Fort Worth to meet up with Peggy. We spend the Labor
Day weekend with Bridget and John. While there we saw some sights
in Dallas and Fort Worth, including the Sixth Floor Museum, Texas Motor
Speedway, and the Fort Worth Stockyards. |
|
September 8th. House hunting
begins. We've decided to start looking for a new home. We're
hoping to be able to move to Niceville, but we haven't ruled out
Crestview either. We have lofty goals -- a house large enough for
a workshop, a garage space for Peggy's car, and a swimming pool -- let's
see what we find (with the assistance of our realtor
Marion Russell). |
|
September 19th. We found the
house we want. It's in Niceville and pretty much fits everything
we were looking for. Tonight we made our initial offer. |
|
September 23rd. After a few
rounds of back-and-forth counter-offering, our offer on the Niceville
house was accepted! |
|
October 18th. We closed on
our new house today! Click here for more info and pictures. |
|
October 21st. Moving day.
Today we officially moved into our new house in Niceville. Over
the previous couple of days, Steve managed to move most of the boxes we
had packed up. Today the movers came to get the "big stuff".
Fortunately the moving process went pretty smooth. |
|
October 27th. Peggy had her
detailed pregnancy tests at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. Initial
findings all look positive, but we're still keeping the "cat in the bag"
until we know everything is OK... |
|
November 4th. Steve
birthday! |
|
November 6th to 8th. Steve
went TDY to Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX for work meetings. |
|
November 6th. Today we got
the results of Peggy's tests and everything looks great with her
pregnancy. Now we get to start telling everyone. We also
confirm that we're having a boy and we decide to name him "Jacob" after
Steve's paternal grandfather who passed away when Steve was six months
old. |
|
November 10th to 14th. We
took a long weekend trip to Phoenix, Arizona to spend the Veteran's Day
weekend with Peggy's friend Kris and her boyfriend Ken. While we
were there we went to the Checker 500 NASCAR race at Phoenix
International Speedway, where we even camped at the track in Ken's "toy
hauler" camper/trailer. We also got to meet up with Steve's friend
Tim, his wife Bonnie, and their two daughters. |
|
November 19th. Our first
dinner guests in the new house. Steve's best friend Kevin, his
wife Laurie and their daughter Marissa (Steve's goddaughter) came over
for dinner. They were in town from North Carolina for Thanksgiving
week. |
|
November 22nd. Peggy's
friend Liz and her daughter Kate came up from Tampa to spend
Thanksgiving weekend with us. The night they arrived, we also had
our friends Elizabeth and Chris over as our second dinner guests in the new
house. |
|
November 23th to 25th.
Thanksgiving weekend at the Bowlings' in Gulf Shores. |
|
November 25th. We (along
with Liz and Kate) attended Steve's goddaughter Marissa's third birthday
party on Okaloosa Island. |
|
December 1st to 4th. We took
a long weekend trip to Chicago to visit a bunch of Peggy's friends.
The timing could have been better as Chicago got his with a winter storm
the night/morning before we left. The whole weekend was in the
single digits! We might have to curtail our winter visits to the
Windy City in the future. Despite the weather, we had a great time
(as always). |
|
December 9th.
Peggy hosted
a Christmas party for her staff from L-3 Communications
Crestview Aerospace. Our first party in the new house! |
|
December 15th to 18th.
We're off to visit Steve's family in Pennsylvania for an early Christmas
celebration. We're spending Christmas itself with Peggy's family
this year, so "Christmas" comes early for the Milz clan in 2006. |
|
December 23rd to 26th.
Christmas at the Bowlings' in Gulf Shores. |
