Steve was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and grew up in Ashley, a small town
just outside of W-B in northeast PA. He graduated from Hanover Area High School
in 1987 and went to Penn State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science
in Computer Science in 1991.
While attending Penn State, Steve went through the Air Force Reserve Officer's Training
Corps and was commissioned a second lieutenant on May 17th, 1991. His first
assignment was to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois (just to the east of Saint Louis)
in September 1991. In January of 1996, Steve transferred to Langley AFB in
Hampton, Virginia. After spending a little over four years at Langley, cumlinating
as the Deputy Year 2000 Project Manager for ACC, Steve was assigned as the flight
commander for software development at the 53d Computer Systems Squadron at Eglin
AFB in northwest Florida.
In May of 2002, after being promoted to the rank of major, Steve decided to separate
from the Air Force and pursue a civilian career. He was fortunate to be hired
as a software engineering consultant at his old unit - the 53d CSS. He's been
working there as a consultant ever since, most recently working on software for
the F-22 and F-35 fighters.
In his spare time, Steve also works on a side-business - Professional Computing
Solutions -- with his two partners Tim and Jeff (friends from Langley AFB).
They do some web hosting, web site design, and other software development.
Steve is also actively involved in the local chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association,
serving as the webmaster (go figure!) Additionally, Steve
would love to resume his love of woodworking but time just
doesn't allow for that right now. Lately a major hobby of Steve's has been defensive
pistol shooting (thanks to Peggy's dad and brother) with the International Defensive
Pistol Association. He recently assumed webmaster responsibilities for the
local NW Florida Defensive Pistol Shooters club and the Escambia River Muzzleloaders
range. For two years or so, Steve has been on council
at our church -- Trinity United Methodist -- in Fort Walton
Beach, serving as the technology committee chair and the
church webmaster. Finally, Steve also hosts and
maintains the website for our neighborhood --
bayshoreplace.org. So that makes what, like a
half-dozen or more websites? No wonder there isn't
much time for steveandpeggy.com! |
